Entry fees are non-refundable. This event will occur rain or shine. We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances. In that event, there will be no refunds. Your entry fee will be used as a donation to the CT Breast Health Initiative, Inc.

CELEBRATE SURVIVORS


Breast Cancer Survivors Brunch: Survivors are invited to a celebratory brunch at 10:00 a.m. on RACE morning. Volunteers will be available to aid those who may require assistance.We encourage survivor family and friends to enjoy the Picnic in the Park, which opens at 10 a.m.

Only first time attendees and new breast cancer survivors will receive a pink hat. Returning survivors will receive a new embroidered pink ribbon to add to their existing hats.

SEEDS OF HOPE


Be part of SEEDS OF HOPE… the hope to find a cure for breast cancer by supporting the ground breaking research we are funding in CT. SEEDS OF HOPE is a special level of RACE Registration. If you can join us at the $75.00 level, you will receive your RACE registration, t-shirt, bib number, and gift, and be entered into a special drawing. On RACE day, all SEEDS OF HOPE participants are invited to stop by the Hope Garden Tent for refreshments, and to pick up your own SEEDS OF HOPE gift – a reminder of your commitment to those who continue to fight breast cancer, as well as those who have been lost to the disease.

FRIENDS ASKING FRIENDS® (PLEDGE PROGRAM)

MOTHER’S DAY FOREVER PINK ROSE BOUQUETS


Celebrate our 7th year with a Mother’s Day Forever Pink Rose Bouquet for $7! Roses are made from wood shavings and look like the real thing! Net proceeds will go directly to fund CT BHI’s breast cancer research grants in CT. You can purchase a Mother’s Day Forever Pink Rose Bouquet directly on your registration form and it can be picked up on RACE day at the Shop in the Park! Roses will also be available for sale on RACE day.

ON RACE DAY


T-shirts: The first 6,000 registered participants will receive an official 2010 RACE T-shirt.

Free Refreshments: Refreshments provided by Panera Bread, M & M Produce and Guida’s Milk are available for registered participants. You will need your RACE bib to gain entrance into the Refreshment tent.

Picnic in the Park: Additional food will be available for purchase from various food vendors beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Home Depot’s Build in the Park: Children will have an opportunity to build and take home a wooden project.

Shop in the Park: Don’t miss the 2010 CT RACE IN THE PARK pink ribbon merchandise available for purchase in our Merchandise Tent.

Pink Ribbon Auction: Visit the Silent Auction and Raffle tent to bid on great items and to purchase raffle tickets at 2 for $1. Silent Auction will close at 12 noon and raffle winners will be announced at the finish line during the 1 Mile and 2 Mile Walks. Items can be claimed as soon as winners are announced. Winners need not be present to win.

Sponsor Tent Opens at 8:30 AM: Stop by the Sponsor Tent and meet our sponsors and pick up promotional goodies. Please support them as they have supported us. You will need your RACE bib to gain entrance to the Sponsor Tent.

TIMING DETAILS


For the 2010 5K races we will be using the D-Tag timing system.
Click HERE for a full explanation.

This revolutionary technology is touted as “the world’s most advanced timing system.” The tag attaches to the runner’s shoe with ease, no need to un-lace or un-tie and no need to return the chip at the completion of the RACE. There is no longer a need to pick up a chip before the RACE; it comes attached to your bib.

1 & 2 MILE WALK COURSE Sponsored by


The 1 & 2 Mile Walk course begins and ends at the 2010 CT RACE IN THE PARK start/finish line under the balloon arch. Walkers will make one complete loop of the Park road or two complete loops of the Park road.

KIDS’ CHALLENGE


Kids’ 1 Mile Run: A challenging event for children age 12 and younger. Meet at the start line by 8:50 a.m. for a prompt 9:05 a.m. start.

Kids’ Fun Run: Three age divisions for children 12 years old and under. Meet at the starting line at 8:50 a.m. for a prompt 9:05 a.m. start. Line up by age divisions, 10-12 first, followed by 6-9 and then 0-5 (with adult).

T-SHIRT & BIB NUMBER PICKUP


Individual participants may pick up their T-shirt and bib number on the day before and on RACE morning at the registration tent in Walnut Hill Park:

FACILITIES


General Information Center: An Information and Lost & Found booth will be located in the center of the park. 2010 CT RACE IN THE PARK personnel will be there to answer all of your questions.

Baggage Hold: Participants may leave a bag at our baggage area. Please pick up your items as soon as possible after your event. All items must be picked up by 1:00 p.m. The 2010 CT RACE IN THE PARK is not responsible for lost, stolen, or unclaimed baggage. Thanks to the Jr. League of Greater New Britain for coordinating this tent.

Rest Rooms: Will be available at several locations. Handicap facilities are located in the park and at the finish line.

RACE Timing & Results: Preliminary results will be posted after each race at the Awards Tent located right in back of the stage at the start/finish line. RACE results will be posted on the 2010 CT RACE IN THE PARK website at www.ctraceinthepark.org.

Water Stations: will be in the park, on the race course outside of the park, and just after the finish line.

First Aid: New Britain EMS will provide medical aid on the course and at the start/finish line.

PARKING


Ample parking for the RACE will be available in the two downtown New Britain garages (Courthouse, and Washington/Columbus Boulevard Garages). Convenient shuttle buses, provided by DATTCO, will make continuous trips between the RACE site and these parking areas. Participants should go directly to the above parking facilities. Directions are below.

The last bus leaving Walnut Hill Park for the return trip to the garages will be at 1:30pm!  Don’t miss the bus!

Directions to the Garages:

Courthouse Garage ( Linda Blogoslawski Garage) From locations North and East of New Britain: Take Rte 84 West to Exit 39A onto Rte 9 South.  Continue to Exit 27 – Chestnut Street (left exit).  Turn right off the exit and turn left onto Columbus Blvd. Follow signs to the Courthouse Parking Garage.

Washington/Columbus Boulevard Parking Garage (John N. Badolato Garage) From locations south of New Britain, take route 9 north to exit 26 (Downtown exit). At the end of the ramp, go straight ahead through four traffic lights and the garage is on the left.

The last bus leaving Walnut Hill Park for the return trip to the garages will be at 1:30pm!  Don’t miss the bus!

WALK OF LIFE


Buy a brick to support the Walk of Life Endowment Fund. This fund has been established to provide a legacy for the maintenance and upkeep of the Walk of Life in Walnut Hill Park and to preserve this tribute to those who have been touched by breast cancer. Ordering is easy! One size, one price! Only 500 bricks will be sold. Bricks are 8”x8” and $100 each. Contact Rosemarie Burton at 860-832-5501.
